Cape Town is a special and beautiful place in large part because it’s framed by the bulky sandstone mass of Table Mountain. Table Mountain is a wilderness area set in an urban environment, a flat topped mountain frequently shrouded by a blanket of clouds resembling a tablecloth. You can hike up the mountain, not an easy task, or take the Table Mountain Aerial Cable.
Table Mountain is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, part of a series of smaller conservation areas on the Cape Peninsula that stretch to Cape Point. The park is home to such a diverse and unique flora (9000 species) . The mountain top has unusually eroded rocks and an extensive network of hiking trails.
