How to visit Florida’s Everglades National Park

The Everglades is one of the last US ecosystems I’ve really not explored much.  I’ll be in Florida for a meeting and will have a few free days which I’d like to spend in the Everglades.  So far I’ve not discovered much useful info on how to approach the park, whether from Miami or Fort Myers, or any tips on what to do and see.

I will be traveling with my elderly father, who’s in pretty good shape but can’t do many mile hikes (although a mile or two is okay).  He also wouldn’t be interested in kayaking, though loves boat rides.

Any information anyone could provide will be helpful.  Thanks

A few pieces of information would be helpful.  In what month will you visit the Everglades ? Will the two of you have a car ?  How many nights can you spend in that area ?

Any glass bottomed boat ride is a good glass bottomed boat ride. I want to try that one.
