London Underground: 24-hour service, but fewer jobs

London’s subway system, the world’s oldest, is planning to change to 24-hour service starting in 2015. The change will also coincide with a plan to eliminate special fare cards in favor of riders paying directly with bank debit cards. That may result in job losses, and unions are preparing to oppose it.  More in NY Times.
