American Airlines, obviously aware of the continuing post-merger problems United has had with its reservation and passenger management systems, has chosen not to change. AA has always used SABRE, which it originally developed, and U.S. Airways, its merger partner has been using a different system. Since AA is the larger company, even though USAir was the financial winner, the new company is sticking with what works. It may take up to two years to fully switch USAir operations over, though.
