It’s a battle in the sky between inflight WiFi providers such as GoGo and Inmarsat to grab the biggest share of the market. GoGo has been ahead, but with only a small portion of the world’s planes equipped, the market is still wide open.
Competing technologies for satellite-based WiFi (replacing the older ground-connected technology) compete both on bandwidth (important because if you’ve got 200 passengers sharing your connection…) and connection reliability (especially important on long over-ocean flights.)
