I rented a house in Morocco, briefly, in Essaouira. It’s one of the towns I love, in part I think, because it’s big enough and small enough. Certainly not a city but with enough resources that one need not leave the place for anything except maybe a change of scene on occasion, to appreciate it more. I hope to stay long enough sometime for that.
One of the greatest joys of having a house or apartment in a foreign land is the excuse to shop for food. Not having a language in common with shop keepers is no deterrent, whatever, to having a fine time doing it, in fact can add greatly to the satisfaction of a mission accomplished. Dispensing with the need to eat in restaurants for even part of the time is relaxing, living the life I imagine as a temporary local is a dream come true and a pleasure I wholeheartedly recommend.
…and maybe a caftan.
Great shots PM, give an immediate feel of a daily trip into the souk. Thanks!
Felt like I was right there! Thanks
