Every year, for the first week of July, I travel home to see my family. They have a home in southern British Columbia near the US border as well as a home in northern Montana. I am able to attend the Canada Day activities and then head south for the 4th of July. This 4th of July, I decided to see what I would get if I photographed the fireworks. It is so difficult to photograph them but it has at least become less expensive to try since digital photography has arrived. I think I still have a lot of practicing to do and a tripod would make a difference for sure but I was still happy with the results and decided to share them.
I look so forward to both events, I find the celebrations deeply moving. The singing of the National Anthems, the gathering of the people, the feelings of excitement and the genuine pride and sorrow that circulates around you is all such an amazing experience to me. It seems to stir something deep inside of me as I take it all in.
You must have had your shutter open for some time and remarkably were able to hold the camera very steady. I love the wavy lines of the images! Makes me want to celebrate.
Wow, I love these. Do you have a setting on your camera for fireworks? Also I have problems taking pictures of fireworks or Christmas lights. Should my flash be on or off?
thanks for sharing.
