Where in the World was Gumbo #51 – Park Guell Barcelona

Park Guell Market place

Congratulations to PortMoresby for recognizing that this market place is in Park Guell in Barcelona. The park was designed by the famous Catalan architect  Antoni Gaudi. He is best known for designing in the Modernisme style. One identifying feature of modernisme is using “organic” shapes and angles that are not square.

Park Guell is decorated with many mosiacs and and round edged shapes:

He also designed several buildings in Barcelona. One is Casa Battlo. In this building he used curved lines almost everywhere:

Another building he designed is La Pedrera, which translates as “The Stone”
