B&W in LA, July 25 – August 2 Only.

transient-2

July 25, 2014:

Until recently I lived in a small Arizona mountain town, rescued by artists when the copper mine shut down.  There were a surprising number of world-class photographers and from time to time I’d organize a show and an opening party, of course, in my own gallery or in an empty storefront, of which there were many at the time.

So reading my daily dose of art news today I was drawn to the headline, “Transient gallery that pays tribute to black-and-white analog photography”.   Three artists are doing much the same in Los Angeles and it reminds me how much the transient aspect can add to the urgency to go and see the work.  Now or never.  I hope someone reads these words and heeds the call.  And maybe reports back to say how much fun it was (or wasn’t).  I suspect that without the pressure to show continuously, month in and month out, what you’ll find is the best work of all.
