ONE IN A MILLION – THE CAMPAIGN KEEPING RHINOS HORNY!

Ideas create miracles when driven by passion, and Carla Geyser has just the right amount. To make 12 people care is a daunting task, but to get 1 000 000 people to give a crap seems impossible. After spending time with Carla, I realize that with enough heart and people skills… you may conquer the impossible.

According to News24; 558 rhinos have died in South Africa this year. At this rate, it will surpass last years total before the year is up. We have the means to reduce the number of killings by putting our money where our heart is. You have a voice, use it…

“Africa is facing a MASSIVE wildlife crisis with poaching completely out of control; our ‘One in a million’ campaign aims to get one million people worldwide to show they care by donating R10 towards conservation and thereby becoming ‘One in a Million’.

With just a R10 donation how do we change the face of our already diminishing conservation? We get one million people to hold hands by donating just R10, this doesn’t just stop at you, this gets to reach each and every corner of our planet, we get to hold hands with ‘wanna be’ conservation junkies all over the world, by just one click of a button. Thank you for your support.”

I love rhinos and spotting one in the wild is a very special treat.  I’ve only ever seen 3 wild rhinos, all in the Ngorongoro Crater (where poachers are killed by snipers — no questions asked).

Of the many senseless things happening in the world, their slaughter for just their horn makes about the least sense for me.  It’s sad that ancient pre-medieval traditions are driving these animals to the point of extinction.

This seems like a very worthy cause, Tammy, and it’s a small thing for us all to try to help to ensure their survival.

I wouldn’t go as far as claiming to be an avid hiker, but I’m not a novice in terms of physical activity. I believe in travelling on the road less travelled, well the road up Sani Passis is well-travelled, just by 4×4’s. My boyfriend…
