Gallery: Signs of Quebec

Quebec is one of the oldest cities in North America, founded in 1608, now a city of 500,000.  It was built on a rocky promontory (Cap-Diamant) which provided excellent defensive views including of the St. Lawrence River valley.  Over the years a wall was built to defend the city, the wall still remarkably intact and one of the few found in North America.  Within this walled fortress lie lovely old stone homes, cathedrals, restaurants and shops that are very reminiscent of Old Europe.  Quebec is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a charming city well worth visiting.

As with most cities, Quebec is best experienced when explored on foot.  It has many interesting signs on its businesses and around town, a number of which I’ve included in this photogallery:

Were these pix taken in one area of Quebec or are they typical of the City ?

Gumbo's Pic of the Day

The View North

I was visiting a friend, and this was the view from their house. I could understand why they built their house facing this direction. I was taken by the beauty!
