Streetcorner buskers are a common sight in many cities, especially those with a tourist trade. There are singers, dancers, dressed-up cartoon characters, and living statues. And once in a while, a real puzzler. We saw these two on the edge of Piazza Bra in Verona, Italy.
To answer your questions: no visible trick, no visible fakery. Even if we assume (and I do) that the upper is supported in a sling seat that’s part of his robe, and even if we guess that they may be some framework inside the lower’s costume to make him more stable…they’ve certainly skillfully (and with strength) worked to keep the whole thing in place!
