Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, September 5, 2014: Postcards from Greece – Nauossa the old harbour on Paros

Situated on the eastern side of Naoussa Bay about 7 miles east of the main town of Parikia is this very picturesque old harbour whose fortifications date from the Venetian era of trade dominance of the Aegean and Mediterranean.

Naoussa  is a small fishing port and old Venetian harbour with its protective walls and fortified remains. It is a charming shelter for the colourful and quaint fishing boats moored here. The boats which anchor here are completely sheltered from the strong
Aegean winds. It is also a boarding point for those wishing to visit nearby Delos the birthplace of Apollo.
