Canadian airline adopts unpopular US fee

Westjet just announced that starting late October 2014, it would begin implementing a $25.00 a bag fee for checked bags on the lowest airfare rates.  Until now Canadian airlines have not charged their passengers for the first checked bag.

 

It seems likely that once implemented, the fee will spread like a cancer to all passengers and it’s also likely that Canada’s main airline, Air Canada, will soon adopt these fees.  This despite the fact that Canadian airlines are profitable and passenger loads are the highest recorded.
