Every year, several Barcelona neighborhoods have summer festivals, drawing visitors from all over the city, and beyond. Festa Major de Gràcia is the biggest; it’s an annual 5-day street party that draws more than 1.5 million each year. There’s art and live music, games and tournaments as well as stories and poetry, photo contests, and a scavenger hunt. Gràcia residents decorate every street in a different theme, hoping to win the street decoration contest.
We were lucky enough to be in Barcelona for a few days last summer, and got to enjoy the events, which also had some pro-Catalan independence activities as well. We especially liked the street decorations; these alphabet-themed displays are from Carrer Joan Blanque.
