Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, November 1, 2014: Marsaxlokk

Marsaxokk [1)

My first days in Malta, after leaving a ship at the container port, were in the pretty nearby fishing town of Marsaxlokk.  Though it was December, the weather was warm and you can see the delightful ambiance that awaited me at my, originally, unplanned Mediterranean port of call.  Sometimes Fate is the very best travel agent.

Malta is less than 200 miles from the coast of Africa.

It has a winter climate that is absolutely perfect.

Its summer climate can be extremely hot.

Christmas in Malta is amazing. The locals wearing their furs and heavy coats.

And its still between 70 and 80f !

More blue boats…..I believe I’m seeing a trend, here, PM.

Do you dream of blue boats?

The real question is more like “why are boats painted blue in so many places?” In Venice we found that the UPS boat, which surely should have been brown, was bright blue with a UPS-brown rudder!

Beautiful spot, PortMoresby, one of our favorites. Great place for seafood too…
