I’m not sure if we were too early or too late, but seeing all these empty chairs and tables lined up outside a cafe along the Champs Elysees in Paris was a most unusual sight I thought. Normally when you see pictures of cafes in Paris they are populated with the local Parisians and tourists alike enjoying their dose of caffeine, a cigarette and maybe a shot of brandy. This picture was taken early to mid morning sometime, and my eye just caught the symmetry of the chairs, tables and umbrellas all lined up to create one of those visual affects that you look for when traveling.
A tip we were given about cafes in Paris was that if you just wanted a quick shot of espresso, stand at the bar and take it there, it’s cheaper. If you want to occupy a table and watch the world go by and take in the surroundings (and by all means, please do), then you will usually pay double! But then, it is Paris, and you would be missing out on something if you didn’t, right?
Excellent — almost sad — photo, Islandman. Tables and chairs are made for folks to rest and enjoy.
What a cool shot!
