India starts a “Tourist on Arrival” Visa program

India, home to some spectacular tourist destinations, is known to have a challenging visa application process.  Fortunately that seems to be changing.  A new Tourist Visa on Arrival program makes the visa process much simpler for citizens of 43 countries, including the United States and Germany.  The 30-day visas are issued up to two times a year per person.

While the program is called “visa on arrival,” tourists must apply online at least a half week before they arrive in India.  Applicants must submit a photo, a copy of their passport and a $60 fee.  But still, an easier process than currently exists.
