The time has come for the next step in the 15-month-old merger of American Airlines and USAir: merger of the USAir Dividend Miles program into American’s AAdvantage. All USAir accounts will be frozen on Thursday, Mar. 26 for the transfer; anyone needing to book with the old program has until then to do so.
On Saturday, the first step will be converting the Dividend Miles accounts of fliers who don’t already have an AAdvantage account; those whose balances need to be combined will go next. American says it will notify each member when his or her account has been merged. All transfers of miles will be on a one-for-one basis. The process may take several days to complete.
For some, this will be a big day: the merger will push some people with enough flights or miles when combined into elite status. Those who have it already on either line will keep it.
Remaining big steps in the merger process: combining reservation systems, and finally, operating under a single name and certificate, perhaps by the end of this year.

Yes, the transfer seems to have gone very smoothly…too bad, in a way; I was hoping for an accidental bonus as I once got from Delta (which added an extra zero, back in 1999).
All my miles in one pile this morning, enough to go anywhere, and I still can’t decide, a truly terrible problem.
But an enviable problem, PM. If it’s the worst thing you have to deal with this week, you’re having a pretty fine week.
Now I’m really confused. I just learned from your POD yesterday that you were a princess pretending to be a commoner….

I’m always aware, DrF, I’ve lived a charmed life (for a commoner).
No, DrF, you read it wrong. A commoner with delusions.
