May is National Bike Month, and today’s special event is Bike-to-Work Day, when everyone is encouraged to give two-wheeling a try, in hopes of increasing bicycle commuting, according to the League of American Bicyclists. Bicycling, and especially bicycle commuting have stirred a lot of interest in recent years, both for environmental and personal health reasons, so interest in bicycle history is high as well, and the Smithsonian has a new exhibit on bicycle innovation opening July 1st as part of a major exhibit on innovation.
