Inspectors has been deployed to go to Airbnb rentals in some of the Paris’ most touristy areas and this inspection program is expected to continue for the next few weeks.
On the first day, 30 homeowners out of 80 properties inspected were fined.
Owners in Paris caught renting secondary apartments, transformed specifically as short-term rental properties, and those owners renting out their primary residence for more than four months, without official permission, face fines of up to 25,000 Euros.

Should note that under the law, if you are the renter, you can stay to the end of your time; only the owner is punished. But it may result in fewer available rentals.
