Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, June 9, 2015: World’s Richest Deposits of Dinosaur Bones, Dinosaur Provincial Park

Badlands, Dinosaur Provincial Park, AlbertaHere are some pictures I took during a recent visit to Dinosaur Provincial Park, which is located about a 3 hour drive east of Calgary, near the town of Brooks.  Arriving at the park is like stepping into another world.  It is said that the largest quantity of dinosaur bones anywhere were discovered here, and many of the fossils you see in museums around the world were collected here.  The stunning landscapes of Canadian badlands stretch as far as your eye can see, a truly unique site worth exploring.  The park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
