Its been 50 years since The Beatles brought their “LOVE” to Las Vegas. Cirque du Soleil is keeping their musical legacy alive!
John, Paul, George and Ringo. As The Beatles, they changed the world. LOVE, Cirque du Soleil’s interpretation of the Beatles legacy, has changed entertainment. LOVE isn’t just a tribute, it’s a celebration of the musical legacy of the Beatles utilizing a physical manifestation of their music and lyrics. Using the master tapes from Abbey Road Studios, Sir George Martin and his son Giles created the three-time Grammy-winning soundtrack which was released in November 2006. These songs, so well-known and yet reinvented, are brought to electric, exuberant life by some of the best aerialists, acrobats and dancers in the world which perform in a specially built theatre at The Mirage.
How did the LOVE show come to be? The project arose from discussions in 2000 between George Harrison and his friend Guy LalibertÉ, one of Cirque’s founders. Three years of negotiations between surviving members of The Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, The Beatles widows Olivia Harrison (representing George Harrison) and Yoko Ono (representing John Lennon), The Beatles’ holding company Apple Corps Ltd. and the MGM Mirage culminated in an agreement. After much hard work and preparation, tickets for LOVE went on sale April 19, 2006. Preview performances ran from June 2 to June 29. During these shows, including June 16 and June 17 which were attended by Paul McCartney, changes were made nightly based on audience reaction, cutting or adding sections to add polish. The gala opening was on June 30, 2006. LOVE has been going strong ever since.
As you approach and enter the Mirage, Beatlemania is in the air. Promos for LOVE are everywhere.
Time to buy your tickets for LOVE (which are expensive but comparable to shows of similar caliber and quality); However, if you stay at the Mirage, you get a significant discount on the show tickets (approximately half off the ticket price). Remember, as is the case with most Las Vegas shows, photography is NOT permitted in the show theatre.
You now have your show tickets. Hopefully you still have some time (and money) to spare. Next stop…the Beatles Shop. Here you will find a multitude of Beatles goodies that will make most Beatles fans salivate.
One of the items that caught my eye was was a Hofner violin base guitar autographed by the Fab Four. Sorry Beatles fans…this item is not for sale but for display purposes only.
It’s showtime. You embark on your magical mystery tour by walking down a very colorful hallway…
where you will find LOVE.

Throughout the years I have seen many shows in Vegas. All of them were great, as was Beatles LOVE. Remember, “All you need is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE is all you need”
Wow! What a great exhibition. All you need is LOVE!
