Where in the World is Gumbo? (#119)

IMG_2742

Gumbo has decided to go on a long walk.  In a remote and beautiful place, he’s strolling along a valley and heading towards a very specific destination, a charming town filled with the friendliest people.  Along the way he finds this lovely flowering bush — a tree almost — native to the area.  At one time the valley contained dozens of these trees everywhere you look, but they are less common now.

Where is Gumbo’s destination?  More clues to follow daily….

There are long walks and then there are looooong walks. If it’s a looooong walk I might know where you are, Travel Gumbo. Because I reckon I know the name of this shrub – it’s a popular garden plant in my part of the world.

That monumental achievement didn’t happen to involve a fellow Kiwi, did it? A man who also happened to be very tall – at least from my point of view.

Yep, I’m pretty sure I know the country you’re in Gumbo and the region – but I haven’t got the name of the town yet. Although that mountain’s mighty.

The View North

I was visiting a friend, and this was the view from their house. I could understand why they built their house facing this direction. I was taken by the beauty!
