‘Hardy’s Classic Tour’ is a 65 mile scenic tour for classic cars in the UK county of Dorset in support of the Weldmar Hospice trust. This past weekend the 2015 tour ‘touched down’ in the grounds of the picturesque Art Deco period ‘Riviera Hotel’ on the edge of Weymouth Bay. The sweeping white facade of the Riviera Hotel provides a delightful backdrop to this collection of classic British and European cars mostly of the ’50s, 60s and 70s which are all presented in showroom condition.
The grounds of the Riviera Hotel overlook Weymouth Bay that provide a magnificent period background the the sparkling classic European cars MGs, Morris, Triumph, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Bristol and many more…
And then there was my secret favuorite – a VW Beetle Cabriolet complete with a Porsche engine! I bet this one flies!!
The classic ‘English Rose’ paintwork of this Triumph TR2 glints in the sun of Weymouth Bay.
These owners of a pristine Rover P5 bask in the warmth of the afternoon sunshine.
Whilst a Renault Alpine sits poised for action over the bay…
When you pick up that VW with the Porsche engine, let me know. I’ll fly over to the Isles and join you for a spin. It’s an amazing machine.
what a magnificent setting for these classic cars (I still wish I had my Sunbeam Alpine MK4..sigh..)
I have the VW (’69), also black, sunroof rather than convertible, just waiting for a single man of a certain vintage with a Porsche engine. Failing the engine, the one it has works but it could definitely use a paint job. None of us are quite what we were in 1969.
“None of us are quite what we were in 1969.” And I, for one, am thankful for that!
What I love about this piece is that it is full of wonderful cars that ordinary people could own…not the Ferrari-budget crowd.
