Cruising solo just got more affordable

AmaWaterways - 2015 PR

Being single means sometimes I travel alone.  Generally speaking this means I have no one to share costs with—hotels, car rental and gas. But otherwise expenses such as airfare and restaurants are the same.

One standout where you always pay more is if you’re traveling alone on a cruise ship. Single supplements are charged when only one person is in a stateroom instead of two.

That is until AmaWaterways, the world’s leading river cruise line, announced they were waiving single supplement fees on several of their popular cruises in Europe, Asia and Africa.

The new program provides several double-occupancy staterooms for solo travelers without the additional single supplement fee.

According to Kristin Karst, Executive Vice President and Co-Owner, solo travel is a fast-growing market. ““We are thrilled to extend this special perk to solo travelers,” she said.

Itineraries for 2015 and 2016 offering this perk include:

  • The Enchanting Rhine – 7-night cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, starting at $2,599
  • Melodies of the Danube – 7-night cruise from Budapest to Vilshofen, starting at $2,599
  • Paris & Normandy – 7-night cruise roundtrip from Paris, starting at $2,899
  • Provence & Spain – 7-night cruise from Lyon to Arles, starting at $2,899
  • Taste of Bordeaux – 7-night cruise roundtrip from Bordeaux, starting at $2,899
  • Tulip Time Cruise – 7-night cruise roundtrip from Amsterdam, starting at $2,499
  • Vietnam, Cambodia & the Riches of the Mekong – 7-night cruise from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City, starting at $2,299

So if you’re traveling solo and want to safely explore the world on a beautiful AmaWaterways river cruise, the single-surcharge is no longer an obstacle!
