Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will go into drydock next May for a month-long update that will include adding single staterooms and more kennels, reflecting several changing trends for cruisers.
Cunard says the single rooms are not only because more singles are cruising, but because more multi-generational families are cruising, and will use single rooms to allow more privacy for a teenager or grandparent. There will also be more “Briitannia Club” balcony cabins, which also give access to a special dining area.
The Queen Mary 2 is currently the only ship that allows pets along for the cruise, and the existing dozen kennels have been booked solidly. An additional 10 kennels will be created, along with an expanded owners’ lounge so families can visit the pets.
