Just about every traveler has had one of those moments: left the camera at home, left a jacket at a restaurant, and so forth. But most of us have never had an “Ooops” like the Ryanair flight that took off still carrying all the bags from the previous trip.
That’s what happened Monday, when Ryanair’s flight from Alicante, Spain to Derry in Ireland, arrived carrying returning vacationers and their luggage. The ground crew either forgot or were distracted; in any case, they got the plane ready for the next flight to Spain without unloading the hold.
Twenty minutes into that flight, the plane had to turn and return for unloading, while home-bounders waited by the baggage conveyor. Ryanair apologized to both sets of passengers, but blamed the situation on the ground crew, who are not Ryanair employees.
