Robert Redford, an actor long associated with outdoor and environmental issues, is taking on new roles as a narrator for outdoor documentaries, starting with a role as narrator of Travel Channel’s new series, America the Beautiful, which premieres tonight.
The series is produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker MacGillivray Freeman, who is also the producer of the upcoming National Park Service documentary, National Parks Adventure. That film, funded by Expedia, will appear in February to celebrate the Park Service’s 100th anniversary. Redford is the narrator for the film, which visits 30 National Parks in IMAX 3D.
The Travel Channel series opens tonight with a half-hour episode on Yosemite, to be followed by seven more episodes. The series will repeat in February when National Park Adventure is released. The series will run at 7 pm ET/PT.
