An unusual sight late last month, this Chinese ice cream truck was parked in New York’s Flatiron district, giving out samples of Chinese-style ice cream as part of a tourism promotion for Hangzhou Province. The flavors included Sweet Olive and Lingjing Tea.
The event marked the end of a 30-day “Global Tour” by two families and two storytellers from the U.S. and China toured the world, literally singing the praises of Hangzhou. The N.Y. activities of the group included a studio recording of the Tour’s official theme song, “It’s a Great Big World.”
The ambassadors also put in appearances at the Museum of Natural History and on a Circle Line cruise around Manhattan, and took part in a tree count in Central Park. The goal is to make Hangzhou a better known destination.
