Yellow Bike, the guided bike tour and bicycle rental company in Amsterdam, started an initiative this summer that allows locals to offer travelers a free ride on their bicycles. Yellow Bike gives a free yellow luggage rack to locals that sign up. When a visitor sees it, they shout “Backie!” and then hops on for a ride. Riding on the luggage rack of a friend’s bike is a famous Dutch custom.
