As summer leans toward autumn, the Caribbean island of Curacao heats up with performances by some of the best jazz, R&B and contemporary artists at the island’s annual North Sea Jazz Festival.
Centered near Willemstad at the site of the World Trade Center, three stages—two outside and one inside—were set up this year on the edge of Piscadera Bay to accommodate the artists and fans September 3, 4 and 5. Performers included Bettye Lavette, Cassandra Wilson, Charles Brady, Emeli Sande, Enrique Iglesias, Gregory Porter, John Legend, Lionel Richie, Randy Newman, The Isley Brothers, The Pointer Sisters, The Stanley Clarke Band, Usher, Wyclef Jean, Juanes and Oscar D’Leon.
