An easy walk from the center of Saint-Remy, these olive trees are on the grounds of the hospital of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, the asylum where Vincent Van Gogh spent a year of his life in the 1880s. While there, he painted in these fields. For more, in a Gumbo blog, click HERE.
Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
I always thought picking olives would be a labour intensive task.
I watched as the farmers wife placed a round blanket ( with a split in it ) on the ground under the tree.
Then the tractor had a claw attachment that gripped the tree.
Then it shook the tree for 10 seconds.
All the olives fell on the blanket.
Job done – 1 minute a tree !
