The ongoing strike by Lufthansa cabin crew forced the cancellation of over 900 flights on Monday and continues into today with many more flights cancelled. The union is striking different parts of the system each day.
Today (Tuesday) the target is long-haul flights from Frankfurt and Munich, including most trans-Atlantic flights, and also most flights from Dusseldorf. The union did not strike on Sunday, saying it did not want to strand leisure travelers. Other targets will be hit as the week continues.
The strike is largely over issues of benefits for workers who leave early as the airline continues to cut costs, and jobs, to compete with low-cost carriers. Pilots have struck repeatedly also over other cutback-related issues. For more detail, from USA Today, click HERE
