Seeham, near Salzburg, has been named Austria’s most environmentally-friendly place to live in a competition sponsored by the state broadcasting system, ORF. It was the top prize among 16 categories.
The village, with 1800 residents, relies entirely on sustainable businesses, including an organic grocery, local cheese and chocolate producers and organic B&Bs. Eighty percent of the surrounding farms are certified organic growers, and the town’s heating is fueled by wood from sustainably managed forests.
Even the local tourism business is “green” with a lakeside adventure trail, farm holidays and a bee nature walk. More details from theLocal.at HERE
