Carousels always attract my attention—I still want to grab the brass ring, I suppose—and France seems to have more of them than anywhere else I’ve been. Some are more memorable than others, and this one in Dijon sticks in my mind because of the variety of horses, cars and other animals for children to ride on, and for the extravagant shapes and colors.
Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
