Pipeline excavations in Rome’s Via Alfonso Lamora last week turned up an unexpected prize: a nearly complete 2000-year-old room with its plaster and frescoes intact. At first, when workers removed chunks of earth from under the road and found an open space, they suspected a cave and called spelunkers to investigate, but the cave experts quickly realized they were in someone’s once-luxurious living room.
The excavation area was once a neighborood of luxurious villas surrounding the Horti Lamiani, a garden area belonging to the Emperors. For more information on the find, click HERE for TheLocal.it
