In the midst of a multi-fronted civil war and an international campaign against ISIS, Syria’s government is still bullish on tourism and is working to promote it!
The Telegraph (UK) reports that the Syrian government has ordered its tourism agency to increase promotional efforts, including sending “promotional items” abroad and working to “facilitate tourism promotion activities abroad.”
The efforts are accompanied by enticing pictures of beach resorts such as the Holiday Beach Resort at Tartous on the Mediterranean coast (above) and offers of special events for Christmas and other holidays—all at a time when most countries are ordering their nationals out, refugees are fleeing the country and fighting is taking place less than 50 km from the hotel!
