U.S., Cuba agree on re-starting regular air service

After a year of change, with eased travel restrictions and re-opening of embassies, the U.S. and Cuba have come to agreement on arrangements for restoring regular airline service between the two countries, according to a Wednesday report from the Associated Press. Canadian airline, Westjet, has made some clever YouTube clips over the years, some of which we’ve featured on TravelGumbo.  This might be one of their better efforts. Many Happy Returns! German company rents Christmas trees

For those who hate to have a cut-down tree and then throw it out, but can’t bring themselves to love an artificial tree, Germany’s Happy Tree company has a solution. They’ll rent you a festive tree, and then take it back after the holiday. A startup last year when they rented 400 trees to customers in Cologne and Dusseldorf, this year they are aiming at 3000, in 12 cities, including Hamburg, Bremen and Hannover. Airfare: Expedia takes a look at the numbers

Expedia, together with Airline Reporting Corporation, have taken a dive into airfare pricing data—and come up with a report showing air travel is getting cheaper. The report looks at data for October 2014 to October 2015, and covers about 8 billion searches on 300,000 route combinations. The conclusion: Economy airfare costs dropped about 8% over the previous year, and the trend holds true for both North America domestic travel and international travel.
