Lumiere London, a new 4-day festival of lights, will turn some of London’s best-known locations into unfamiliar new vistas starting January 14, with light installations ranging from videos to interactive sculptures and light shows.
While new to London, Lumiere has been staged each of the past 7 years in Durham, growing each year in size and popularity. The London show will include 30 installations in four main areas (King’s Cross, Mayfair/Grosvenor, Piccadilly and surroundings, and Westminster.
There are walking routes to show off the works that include a life-like 3D elephant walking through the arch at Piccadilly and a “Garden of Light” that turns Leicester Square into a tropical oasis. The displays are on from 6:30 to 10:30 each evening.
