South Korea enacts tough aviation laws to stop air rage

Starting this week, drunken and or unruly passengers who harass or interrupt a pilot and crew members during a flight will face up to five years in prison, or a fine of up to $41,430 USD – up from $4,140. Also, unruly passengers who abuse fellow passengers could now face fines of up to $8,286 USD, which doubles the previous amount.

These new laws are a direct result of the infamous 2014 nut rage incident where Cho Hyun-ah had a tantrum over how macadamia nuts were served.

I didn’t know this was such a big problem in Korea.  Seems a little heavy handed, but perhaps they need to bring their misbehaving people in line.
