‘Burns Supper’ hoping to keep open the Burns Birthplace Museum

Robert Burns was a 18th century Scottish poet who wrote “Auld Lang Syne ” and “Scots Wha Hae.” People all over the world celebrate his birthday, Jan. 25th, with whisky, haggis and poetry.

This year the Burns Birthplace Museum  in Alloway, Ayrshire  had a  fundraiser ‘Burns Supper’ with tickets costing around £250.

Museum director David Hopes said: “We need £350,000 to restore it and are already making good inroads into that figure. But if we fail to raise the money the monument would have to close within 12 months.”

Robert Burns  first ‘Burns Supper’ was held by a group of his friends in that Alloway cottage in 1801, five years after his death
