I wish I could tell you more about this charming abode, but I can’t even place it as specifically as I’d like. I’ve held on to the image since a 2002 trip to the Bay Area, and the most I can tell you is that we saw it along the road somewhere between Sausalito and the Muir Woods redwood preserve.
If any of you recognize it or know its story, I’d love to know!
I’ve looked at the three sites (which all appear to show the same boat), but I think none of them is this one, unless a lot has happened in the years since I took the picture. The roofline is different, and this one lacks the steel stovepipe the other one shows.
I’m fairly sure the spot where I took the picture was well out of town, but of course, boats can move…
These sites all say “Sausalito”. Best guess, Kappas Harbor or Waldo Point, where Hwy 101 meets Bridgeway, the main drag through Sausalito.https://www.pinterest.com/pin/525584218987357033/http://www.panoramio.com/photo/65281312https://laundryonsundaes.wordpress.com/tag/parks/
I surrender.
Amazing that PortMoresby was able to find it so fast!
The roof line is different because your photo is taken from the opposite end. There are so many other distinctive details, the style of mooring for instance, as well as the dock, and the missing stovepipe is behind leaves in yours. I’m also somewhat familiar with the area, having lived twice in Sausalito. I know of no other houseboats on the way to Muir Woods. Give up.
