The British government has made a public request to all airlines flying from Zika-affected areas to the U.K. to spray planes with insecticide. Other countries require disinsection of all in bound flights.
Zika virus is spread through mosquito bites. Though It causes only a mild illness in most people, there’s been evidence linking Zika infection in pregnant women to a rare birth defect called microcephaly, in which the baby’s head is smaller than normal and the brain has not developed properly. Zika infection has also been linked to other poor pregnancy outcomes.
