TAP Air Portugal is returning to JFK and Boston Logan with daily round-trips, and has announced a new tie-in with JetBlue that will allow TAP to sell tickets from Lisbon to more than 20 JetBlue destinations, and will allow JetBlue to funnel passengers to Lisbon and beyond with TAP.
If there’s a family feeling going on here, it may be because David Neeleman, founder of JetBlue and its chairman for several years is the part owner of TAP, as well as owner of Brazilian startup Azul, which also has ticket tie-ins with JetBlue.
The new flights will start in June, using new A330s that will be delivered to TAP then. TAP will operate out of JetBlue’s Terminal 5 at JFK, and will be in the same Terminal C area with JetBlue in Boston. TAP also has Lisbon flights to Newark and Miami; the JFK and Boston flights restore service that was dropped a decade ago. There’s also a twice-weekly service from Newark to Porto.
