I’ve moved around a lot in my life. As a matter of fact, I’ve rarely lived in the same town over five years. The one place I consider ‘home’ is the beach. I’m drawn to it. I like to walk on a wide empty beach and think, mainly at night. I think about life and dream about future trips that I’m going to take.
One of my favorite beaches is St. Augustine Beach. It’s wide at stretches with a hard compact sand that’s good for riding a bicycle or even driving a car on. Mainly though, the hard sand is great for walking or running. And of course, it’s a good swimming and surfing beach, too.
St. Augustine Beach is experiencing a tourist boom this year with new hotels and restaurants bringing in more crowds and traffic to Anastasia Island , where the town is located. But at dawn, dusk or night, you can still find that empty beach in most stretches and dream.
An undiscovered gem of Florida.
The recession really hit Anastasia Island hard. There were lots of foreclosures and empty hotels, restaurants and stores. But the last couple of years has seen a total transformation and the island is crowded and businesses are packed like never before.
