Turkey wanted to become the world’s top visitor destination and with 37 million foreign tourists in 2014 they were on the road to achieving that. This year though has already seen decline in tourists and hotels report bookings down as much as 70%.
And it’s for several reasons. Safety is a concern with 4 terrorist attacks happening in the past 3 months. Then there is tensions with Russia after Turkey shot down a Russian jet last year leading Russia to cancel all charter flights to Turkey. On top of that, the migrant crises had bodies washing up on beaches and that has affected tourism as well.
