Royal Caribbean raises tip rate, kills free WiFi

Cruisers who were heartened last year by Royal Caribbean’s announcement that it would offer free high-speed internet when its Majesty of the Seas returned to service after a major refurb, and who hoped it was the first step toward free WiFi on the line’s other ships, got disappointing news today: the service will cost $15 a day, except for those who booked between the two announcements. Royal Caribbean’s other news of the day: The gratuity charges that are added to each passenger’s bill are going up again, from $12.95 to $13.50 for passengers in standard cabins, and from $15.95 to $16.50 for suite passengers. Less than a year ago, the rates went up by 95c for regular and $1.70 for suites. More from CruiseCritic.com HERE
