The 2020 Tokyo Olympics might offer the world’s first man-made meteor shower in the opening ceremonies.
A Japanese startup company, ALE, has developed a small satellite capable of producing a man-made meteor shower anywhere in the world.
Pellets can be ejected down from the satellite into the Earth’s atmosphere at specific times and they will simulate actual meteors. The pellets will be made out of specific materials known to produce different colors in actual meteors.
