Icelandair is adding its 5th Canadian city and 16th North American gateway with 4-a-week service from Montreal to Reykjavik, providing a gateway to Iceland, and also connections there to more than 20 European cities the airline flies to.
The line also flies to Halifax, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver. Aside from perks such as two checked bags free (still!), Icelandair allows extended stopovers in Iceland that can make a mini-vacation on the way to or from Europe.
Initially, the Montreal flights are seasonal, running through November, but the future could hold more service if the seats fill.
I’ve flown Icelandair several times. The fares are reasonable but there’s nothing exceptional about the flight experience except the opportunity to visit Iceland at no extra charge. THAT is well worth doing!
